Hi Marie, We have been inundated with new projects this year and have recently added staff with greater expertise in historic resource protection so we hope to apply for grant assistance in the next round. We developed a 5-year work program with our Historical Advisory Board that includes additional surveys and creation of a database so we can use the CHRID. Also, the City is preparing a Facilities Master Plan, which we anticipate will result in proposals for adaptive re-use of several key City-owned historic buildings in downtown Alameda that are currently vacant. Last week, City Council approved restoration of the Carnegie Library (vacant for 10 years) and re-use as a Community Arts/Planning and Building Center! Occupancy is expected in approximately 2 years.

Sincerely, Cathy
