The California Preservation Foundation and the City of San Clemente are
pleased to present:
The Mills Act Program Revealed
MONDAY, JUNE 23, 2008
San Clemente, CA
The Mills Act is one of the most important financial incentives for the
rehabilitation of historic buildings in California. Created by state
law, it provides a financial incentive to property owners and
municipalities, to address the short-term economic challenges of
rehabilitating historic buildings and revitalizing urban cores in cities
both large and small.
This Workshop will feature:
- An overview of the Mills Act state legislation;
- Examples of Mills Act programs;
- Requirements for implementation; and
- A discussion of the process to design, obtain approval, implement, and
modify a Mills Act program tailored to the specific needs of a
community.
Case studies and panel discussions will be used throughout the
presentations. Participants will learn what the Mills Act encompasses:
how to analyze economic impact, design a program to meet specific
objectives, obtain required approvals, and maintain a Mills Act program.
AICP, MCLE and AIA credits offered!
